EASY DIY

Watch this short video as Misi takes us through the project, or follow the step by step guide below.

STEP 1 – PREPARE THE CLOCK FACE:

  1. Determine the size and shape of your clock face. This will depend on the length of your clock hands and the style you wish to choose. For this clock we are going to make a perfect circle
  2. Find the middle of the board by measuring and drawing a horizontal and vertical line down the middle to form a cross
  3. Insert a screw a few millimeters into the center point on the board, so that it’s just sturdy enough. Then tie a piece of rope to the screw and tie the other end to a pencil, measuring the rope to reach from the middle of the circle to the edge of the wood. By pulling the rope taut and following it around the screw, you draw a perfect circle on the board
STEP 2 – SHAPE THE CLOCK FACE:
  1. Put on your safety goggles and gloves
  2. Clamp the board to the workbench
  3. Using the Jigsaw, saw a circle into the board, following the pencil marks

STEP 3 – PREP THE CLOCK STYLE:

  1. Drill a hole into the center of the circle
  2. Lay down some newspaper and place the clock face on top
  3. Ensure the space you are working in is well ventilated, then give the clock face a good coat of spray. If ventilation is not good and there is no other option, remember to wear a protective dust mask

STEP 4 – FINAL STEPS:

  1. Drill a tiny hole halfway through the wood on the top at the back of the board so that it has a place to hang from
  2. Insert the clock mechanism, ensuring everything is screwed in tight

There you have it, a timeless piece of décor to give your room that contemporary modern edge. Visit your nearest BUCO to find all the DIY project items you need to do more with your home.
