How do we go to work?
To help ensure we make a difference in communities that truly need it, we’ve partnered with entities such as Afrika Ablaze, UNICEF and the Department of Basic Education. This allows BUCO to share our passion for building a better future to extend across multiple efforts ranging from community upliftment and environmental efforts.
Benefits

Partners

Not only did our efforts help uplift each school, but these projects also created many jobs within the respective communities for the duration of the projects. These projects also served as a platform to transfer skills and knowledge. Overall, these projects directly benefitted over 5000 learners.

Mpumalanga:
Supplied materials to Vukubone High School to help support school renovations.
Gauteng:
Provided Eketsang High School with building materials to support their renovations.
North West:
Supplied Mereti Secondary School and Boitekong Secondary school with material for their new ablution facility.
Provided Boithapo Secondary School with building materials to build their very own Science Laboratory.
Eastern Cape:
We provided Thembalethu Senior Secondary School with material to help them build classrooms and extra facilities.
We supplied Kuyasa High School with all the materials they needed to tile their floors.
In 2014, our partnership with the Adopt-a-School Foundation identified matriculants from beneficiary schools to acquire relevant work experience through our BUCO stores – this opportunity provided learners with practical skills, confidence and experience as they start their journey into their working life.
In addition, BUCO Building Blocks has also been working closely with Afrika Ablaze on The Afrika Ablaze Career Camp Project, exposes selected grade 11 students from needy communities to career, study and bursary opportunities available to them post-matriculation.
How did we help?
In 2013, R90 000 was sponsored to the first career camp held at the Afrika Ablaze Campus. This contribution assisted with catering, accommodation, transport and recreational activities.
What we’re currently busy with:
Our focus is to continue to improve the standard of living for rural communities in South Africa. For 2018, The BUCO Building Blocks Programme will supply 30 water tanks to 25 different schools across South Africa.
But why water tanks?
South Africa continues to struggle delivering basic services to certain communities. Our water tanks will provide access to water to the families that need it the most. Water will not only assist with daily cleaning and cooking, but will also contribute with some of their commercial activities providing a much needed steady stream of income.
